I have always dreamed of creating my own line of clothing.
A dream I have always had is to create my own line of clothing. And so, I began a year-long creative journey with Christine Mayer’s offering of a Master Class. Together with other designer/students on this journey, we hit the creative trail in November 2020, designing our own line of clothing for 21/22.
The title of my LL line will be “Exploring Memories.” From a trunk full of antique fabrics, clothing, and toys, a young girl named Sassafras found in an old house, up in the attic, I am delighted to begin. Sassafras is a fictional character I started writing about over 12 years ago. She is a distant memory, but not at all forgotten.
I invite you to join me on my personal journey. In a journal format here on my website, I will post from time-to-time my process in creating this line. The culmination of Exploring Memories will be the end of 2021. I will present photos of the finished pieces here.

The Uniform Dress
This is the piece that began my Exploring Memories 22/23 collection, the Uniform Dress. My idea was to create all subsequent pieces in this collection, with the option to be worn with this dress.

A Tattered Quilt Top
A tattered quilt top was found. It was not yet quilted. Little rips and stains, which adds to the character. I mended some, and worked around others. But used almost every inch of that quilt top in this vest.

Memories of Hexagons
Memories of Hexagons. A 2-part vest, left and right side snapped together. And a vest with odd shapes and vintage snaps.
