Kantha Cloth Shrug

Using a vintage Vogue pattern 9428, circa 1958, and Kantha cloth, I created this shrug. The button needed to be large. Sometimes the weight of a large button can be too heavy for the fabric. This one I created using 1/8” wide strips of felt. I simply wound the strips in a circular shape, then hand-stitched the rows together. Light weight, and easy to manipulate thru the button hole. The puffy sleeves were thick, so I hand gathered those with a few rows of heavier thread. They are attached only at the top of each sleeve onto the shrug shoulder. The underarm is left loose.
