Stan Satlin - Balladeer
Stan is a NYC friend. I’m not sure he would call himself a Balladeer, but when I labelled him that once, he didn’t object. Multifaceted kind of guy, lots of fun to be around, and with the best head of hair you (or more specifically, I) could wish for.
[Note: Actually Stan is both a Ballader (writer of Ballads) and a Balladeer (singer of Ballads). So I could have said “Singer/Songwriter” but I prefer Balladeer.]
To his credit he can count several musicals including Auratorio Americana, Robin Hood, and Children of Adam. Auratorio Americana is a musical journey of God and Country, using the words of Walt Whitman, Tom Paine, and Black Elk and was performed at Lincoln Center with 100 voices and then for the Ambassadors to the United Nations in the Brooklyn Museum.
In 1981 Stan wrote Baseball (America’s National Pastime) a joyful, innocent tune, which might be ready for a comeback. There’s a detailed writeup here by Kevin Kernin, if you’d like to read a fascinating backstory.
In any case, here’s your link…
Although Stan wrote this song in 2004, it’s unfortunately current.
