Kenneth D. King

Living part-time in NYC has given me the rich opportunity to study with designer of all things fashion, Kenneth D. King. King offers 3-day mini Sit and Sew sessions. Limited to two people.

Below are some of King’s couture pieces, top row photos 2-3. Second and third rows are some of my work created during these sessions. Plus a few photos of me in action in his studio!

These sessions are dynamite. You can work on the project of your choice. From the tiniest detail to the largest challenge, he is an expert and will guide you with ease and kindness. King’s tips and tricks on how to accomplish every tiny detail are like magic for the sew-ist and creator at heart. He mixes art and couture to perfection.

You may check out his website with dates for Kennth D. King’s class offerings around the country and the Sit and Sew sessions. And don’t forget to browse his “Book” page, loaded with instruction. I highly recommend any and all of the books. The website is packed with visuals and inspiration.

Oh, and his novel “All Grown Up Now” is off the charts, a story of his life. Yes folks, there is always hope. King will inspire you to go beyond that beautifully stitched seam and added button. Maybe I will see you in the next Sit and Sew?

The Pincushion hat King is wearing on the thumbnail to this post, he created for a photo shoot. It is in one of my all time favorite go-to books he published, “Cool Couture - Construction Secrets for Runway Style.” Want to know how he created all those pleated ruffles I’m wearing in photos below? This book will teach you.
